The Job

A ready-to-use site office in two days

A commercial client near Washington, PA needed a small office on its lot: a weather-tight room with a lockable steel door and a window, ready for staff without waiting weeks for a general contractor. The building arrived as a flat-packed modular kit of insulated sandwich panels on a steel floor frame.

Solaxay handled the full assembly on site. The floor frame was squared and leveled on the existing concrete pad, the wall panels were set and locked in sequence, and the door, window, roof panels and trim followed. The unit was finished, checked and cleaned up by the end of the second day.

Work like this is billed at the commercial assembly rate of $50 per hour, so the client only pays for time on site. Most single-room modular offices, guard booths and storage units of a similar size are assembled in one to two days, depending on the kit and site access.

Step by Step

How the build came together

  1. Steel floor frame of a prefab office with the first insulated wall panels standing
    01

    Floor frame and first walls

The galvanized floor frame was squared on the pad first, since every panel above depends on it being flat and true. The first corner of wall panels went up the same morning.

  2. Installer setting insulated wall panels of a modular office, ladder and window opening visible
    02

    Wall panels and openings

Panels were set one by one and locked into the frame, with the door and window openings placed exactly where the client wanted access to the lot.

  3. Modular office walls complete with steel entry door and window installed
    03

    Door, window and roof

With all four walls standing, the steel entry door and window went in and the roof panels were fitted, sealed and trimmed.

  4. Completed prefab office building with black trim on an industrial lot
    04

    Trim, check and cleanup

Corner and edge trim finished the weather seal. The door was adjusted to close cleanly, and the site was cleared of packaging before handover.

Questions

Modular office assembly questions

How long does it take to assemble a modular office?
A single-room prefab office like this one took two working days from floor frame to cleanup. Larger or multi-room units, uneven ground, or kits with many loose parts take longer. Send the model and a photo of the site for a time estimate.
How much does modular office or prefab building assembly cost?
Solaxay charges $50 per hour for commercial and modular assembly. You get an estimate of the hours before the job is scheduled, based on the manufacturer, model and site conditions.
Do you assemble kits bought from a manufacturer or online?
Yes. Send the manufacturer, model number and instruction manual if you have it. We review the kit before scheduling so the right tools and crew size are on site.
What does the site need before assembly?
A level concrete pad or prepared, compacted base, clear access for unloading the kit, and all parts delivered on site. If the base is not level, tell us in advance so it can be planned for.
Do you work outside Pittsburgh?
Yes. Solaxay works across the Pittsburgh region, including Washington County, where this project was built. For commercial jobs further out, send the address and we will confirm availability.

Have a unit that needs assembling?

Send the manufacturer, model and a photo of the site. We reply with a time estimate and a price, usually the same day.
